Undercurrent's Josh Spear Nominated to The Forum Of Young Global Leaders
FOR IMMEDIATE RLELEASE
New York, NY, March 23th 2009 – The World Economic Forum announced their 2009 nominees to the Forum of Young Global Leaders (YGL). We’re pleased to announce that Josh Spear, 24, a founding partner at Undercurrent, is one of the 230 young leaders selected from various business, government, academia, media, and non-profit organizations worldwide.
Undercurrent is a think tank based in NYC that provides digitally-focused strategic planning, ideation, measurement, training, and advisement to global brands ready to engage a new generation of human beings that were born digital. Spear is also recognized for his trend-spotting blog that has become a go-to site for tracking trends in art, design, sustainability, consumer products, travel, and the future of digital media and advertising. With a network of writers from around the world, Spear’s blog has become a trusted source for global trends. Spear serves as an advisor to several startups as well as global brands, and (when he catches his breath) is also on the Global Agenda Council for Marketing and Branding.
With all of that under his belt, it makes sense that Spear was selected from a pool of over 5,000 candidates to be one of the YGLs. The YGL committee is chaired by H.M. Queen Rania Al Abdullah of the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan and comprised of 31 international media leaders. Together they chose the nominees based on their past professional accomplishments, as well as for their potential to contribute meaningful perspective and advice on future global initiatives. “I'm truly honored to be a part of such an incredible group of individuals. This is an extraordinary opportunity to collaborate with some of the world's top young thinkers...to push our collective ideas forward and create meaningful change and impact on the world,” comments Spear on this honor.
Spear and the other 2009 honorees join the broader Forum of Young Global Leaders (a group of just under 500 impressive individuals) to convene at summits, meetings and events to work towards finding solutions to the key challenges of today’s world. Klaus Schwab, Founder and Executive Chairman of the World Economic Forum believes that, “…the Young Global Leaders represent the voice for the future and a catalyst for initiatives in the global public interest.” Spear’s addition to this leadership group is timely.
